The disappearance of Elaine Ziegler, a 15-year-old girl from Warren, Ohio, remains one of the haunting cases connected to a notorious Florida serial-killer investigation decades after she vanished.
Ziegler disappeared on December 31, 1975, while she was vacationing in Florida with her family. She was staying at a campground near Brooksville when she disappeared, beginning a mystery that would remain unresolved for years.
For years, Elaine’s whereabouts were unknown. The case eventually became connected to the investigation surrounding Billy Mansfield Jr., a convicted serial killer whose family property in Hernando County became the center of a major investigation after authorities discovered human remains there in the early 1980s.
